ubuntu qemu: at most 2047 MB RAM can be simulated

When I tried to install VM using KVM on Ubuntu 9.10, I got that error. I searched on Google, and found a lot of answers.

But, I don't understand, why that error appeared. After browsed Google deeper, I found that the problem was in my host OS. It was 32 bit OS. That OS limit the maximum of managed memory is only 2 GB (2047 MB). Once I changed the memory into 1 GB (1024 Mb), the VM can be runned smoothly.
